The Indian Power Market is undergoing significant changes as part of the ongoing reform agenda. Integrated Power Development Scheme, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, Ujwal DISCOM Assurance Yojana, National Smart Grid Mission, Amendments to National Tariff Policy and proposed amendments to the Electricity Act 2003 are some of the initiatives aimed at creating transparency and viability in the sector to achieve the objective of Power for All by 2019.
Adoption of latest and innovative technologies in Power sector is essential for capacity building and operational efficiency; business process efficiency; smart metering; billing and collection efficiency; energy accounting and revenue protection; consumer relations and satisfaction etc. Information Technology could be a key technology initiative that can support achievement of above goals.
Therefore, IT will definitely be a key enabler in making these initiatives successful. Advances in IT and the integration of IT with OT are throwing up various opportunities for Power Sector. Hence, we have unanimously decided the conference theme as, “IT as an Enabler for Power Sector Reforms in India,” and we will be holding an exclusive 'Panel Discussion' on the above theme.
